Are you an aspiring author?

Have you ever thought to yourself that that story stuck in your head would be a real page turner? Maybe you’ve thought that your life story would help so many people if it were in the bookstore? Or perhaps your child has told you numerous times that you could really write a children’s book if you wanted to.

So, you have ideas!

Do you already have some ideas, but no time or dedication? Do you possess the knowledge, but no means to compile it? Do you love scribbling down thousands of lines of dialogue, but have no clue how to fit them into a storyline? Do you have a whole trilogy in the back of your mind, but no inspiration to write a single word?

Cat got your tongue?

Have you tried just about every avenue there is to try? Your self-doubt might be overbearing, so you never take the leap. Maybe you have started writing, but hit a wall. Have you completed the questionnaires on how to free up time to write and read all the how-to become an author articles? Have you listened to the opinions of your friends and family but still feel stuck?

If you can answer any of these questions, then you are already on your way to becoming an author!

There is another option available to you!

Get a ghostwriter. Hire a person or company that writes for you. It does sound quite daunting. Perhaps you’re frowning at the idea as you read this, and thinking, Will this person capture your voice? Perhaps you’re thinking a ghostwriter would make you sound robotic. Or that they would not be able to capture your unique voice. Or that they couldn’t possibly carry all the knowledge you carry.

Let’s take a last moment and revert back to our first question:

“Is A Ghostwriter Really My Answer?”

Here are some interesting facts about ghostwriters.

For a writer to decide they want to be a ghostwriter, a few things need to happen in their life first. They must be diverse and great researchers, leaving no stone unturned. They must be great with people, extroverted, and imaginative. They must possess the silver service of writing. They must be multitaskers, ready to jump into action every time the customer changes their perspective. And lastly, but most importantly, they must love to be a ghostwriter. In the end, all they are doing is challenging their own inner voice to match your unique and personal voice.

What could possibly go wrong if I decide the opposite?

So you still don’t think a ghostwriter is the answer for you. Every one of your brilliant ideas will remain just that, ideas. Your life story will never help others in the way you want it to help. All the knowledge you’ve gained in your particular field will one day die with you, never compiled into something tangible. Your story stays in your head, forever making you feel incomplete.

So, next time you ask, Is a ghostwriter really my answer, remember this:

Perhaps this person does capture my voice just perfectly. Perhaps they have written some highly academic pieces in the past, and would compile my knowledge flawlessly. Perhaps they, too, are amazing storytellers, just waiting to lend me a hand with this story stuck in my head. Perhaps they are great at offering the very best service and professionalism, and my ideas will mimic just that!

Don’t knock a ghostwriter until you’ve had a sit-down with one!
